oh church

When the gospel becomes the focus of being missional and when being missional becomes about being about the gospel, the church is unstoppable. Not because we are amazing, but because the gospel is unstoppable, irresistible and relevant. As the Church we are called seek, speak and spread the good news of Jesus. We are NOT called to seek and destroy opportunities with our lack of mercy for people. My concern is a simple one…the Church is destroying itself by attacking themselves. We are like wolves in hunt and our prey is ourselves. Let’s be careful not to speak about his bride in such a way. There is a a word that needs to be spoken, there is. I denying that! That word must be spoke without hesitation and without flattery, but it MUST BE SPOKEN IN GRACE AND MERCY!
Dear church, please do not haste to make judgement without mercy, without grace…without taking the giant piece of wood in your eye!
I’m not defending a church, organization nor am I defending views. What I am doing is pleading for us to be the church. Let us be the church…I need to be the church.
When the heart we have is a sympathetic one, the best love one can show is to show truth without compromise, IN love

Dear church,
Relevance does not equal a reduction of the gospel
For the gospel is relevant on its own.
Dear church,
Let’s not stand silent against the evils of this earth,
Though sometimes silence is what We are called to do, choose wisely.
Dear Church,
To search for the speck in your neighbors eye having going through the plank of wood in yours is in itself a sin…be wise
Dear church,
Do not forget that even the best apostles and theologians
On those who’s backs you stand on we’re themselves sinners! You are not special.
Dear church,
The blood that ran red and fast through the spear is the same blood that can save the person you deem unsavable, don’t play Jesus.
Dear church,
Relevance is not equal to the reduction of the gospel
For the gospel is relevant on its own
Dear church
Pray, yelling down their throats can only get you so far…pray for them, pray for yourself…
Dear church….
Oh dear church
You too are dead without Christ be gracious for you have been shown much grace
Dear church
Listen
Relevance does not equal compromise
But being anchored does not equal your judgement…
Dear church
Oh the church…
The bride…
Don’t budge
Don’t move
But stop being a bounty hunter and start being the church

Song 6 of 7in7 “Hold on girl!”

A country jig for the wife 🙂 about the wife…

Hold on girl I want you to stay
Don’t you go far away
Cuz you are my love
Hold on girl I want you to know
That im out of control
When you are around

I was hanging out by the side of my car
Down at parking lot
Hoping I would catch youre eye
And then it hit me that when I did
The words I thought wouldn’t cover it
How much I wanted to say that..

I asked you about some random book
Knowing I would make a silly look
Hoping that somehow that would
Catch a smile
And Im sure it musta been something else
That made you stay and talk some more
Cuz I know that my lines weren’t that hot

Song 5 for 7in7

I see a world of color gray
when all exposed is in the way
the color scheme is dead

the sulfur smell consumes the air
its far too much for me to bear
the color scheme is dead

Father do not haste
for your son is in need
my breathe is fading
and you’re what I need

How long Oh Lord
How long oh Lord
Will you forget me
How long oh Lord
How long oh Lord
Will you hide your face!

But you, you have been good to me

The Rider (song 4 for 7in7)

I heard the trumpets roar
And I saw the midday sky split
With angels singing choruses
In white sheets it was glamorous

Wrapped in robes of color red
Came enthroned the one who bled
Seated on a horse, seated on a horse

Came the way, truth and light
A voice like thunder filled the sky
Here comes the rider from on high

Faithful and true
The word of God
The savior son
Lord Jesus Christ
Glory to the word made flesh
Glory to the word made flesh

Come to judge the righteous
Come to raise the dead
Come to seek the vengeance
That’s rightful to his name

Come to catch the fallen
Come to end the pain
Come to smite the wicked
Come the lamb once slain

Here comes the rider from on high

Song 3 of 7in7

Were all concerned with righteousness
but all consumed with bloody mess
all distorted, all been broken
all have words left unspoken
With hands of failure reaching out
reaching out for all to see
all the wounds we have been given
open like a raging sea

but,

there is a truth in light of darkness
theres a son for all to see
there is still a form a beauty
left inside of you and me

We’ve all tried hard and fallen short
we’ve all been hated times before
our heart like metal bends to brake
when exposed to heat and flame
Dreams come shattered like dirty glass
when our trial is all we have
so we look to someone else
in desperate need of help

There is hope
there is peace
there is joy in time of need
there is rest
there is love
there is grace come from above

Song 2 for 7in7

Wasn’t able to post this yesterday…here it goes… from Psalm 118

Let those who fear the Lord say
His steadfast love endures
Let those who fear the Lord say
His love endures
Let those who fear the Lord say
His steadfast love endures
His love endures forever

There’s no thing that I can do
No song that I can sing
There are no words that I can say
To gain your love for me

There’s nothing I can bring
No costly offering
There are no riches I can give
To gain your love for me

No Death can keep us down
We know victory

my first attempt at 7in7

Based off of Romans 9 first 7in7
Based off of Romans 9 first 7in7

wrapped in grace

clothed with love
by the mercies
of our God
in you i am set free
not by flesh
nor in blood
but through promise
in the son
in you i am set free

not of my own
but through your mercy alone
i have freedom in you
you gave me honor
you gave me a name
I have freedom in you
you make beauty
out of the mud
shaping me
to be loved
and i am set free
you came to replace
my helpless sinful state
and made new
what once was shamed

How Deep Can a Stone Heart Sink?

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26 HCSB)”

There are few things that are more dangerous for the believer than sin.

Don’t get me wrong, sin alone is the ultimate separation from our Lord and Savior. I am not saying that some sin is ok, not at all. You see, sin when repented of (the true meaning of repentance) leads us only to forgiveness, mercy and grace. Paul tells us that “conviction is only through his kindness, and it leads to repentance.” Meaning, we are allowed to be convicted in order to be in the presence of the Lord blameless and clean….BECAUSE HE LOVES US.

So, what can be more harmful than sin itself? A heart of stone…

A heart of stone is the outcome of a reliance in self and a complacency in God’s mercy for oneself. We forget about who God is and rely on what we can do….or can’t do for that matter. We often find ourselves caught in the “i know” stage or working for the sake of pattern. This soon becomes monotony in our lives. We forget about the Gospel, we forget about the joy that we had when one was saved. This is why the Psalter writes “Restore the joy of Your salvation to me, and give me a willing spirit. (Psalm 51:12 HCSB)” When a heart of stone is fully developed, it functions as sound barrier between us and God. No transition can get through, therefore you grow cold and choose to continually rely on yourself…and the pebbles that first started grow and become a boulder…your heart, is a heart of stone. You choose not to repent. Sin left un-repented of is death.

So what’s the medication? How do we begin to erode the stone to portray flesh? The prescription is this. You recognize who God is, and who you are not. Simply stated, you must come under the authority of Jesus and remember He who saved you, because He loved, loves and will love you. Understanding that the only way to break the stone is through the authority of Christ will do several things:

1. You will know who you were…and who you are now because of Jesus.
2. You will repent of your sin and start chipping the stone.
3. You will thank God for mercy and grace.
4. You will have the joy of your salvation restored.
5. You will know, trust, and share the Gospel!
All these things are great news! It all starts with knowing who God is and who you are not.

So how deep can a stone heart sink? To the deepest trench. The question really is, will you sink with it, or will you watch it sink?

He put a new song in my mouth,

a hymn of praise to our God.

Many will see and fear

and put their trust in the Lord. (Psalm 40:3 HCSB)”

Tent Peg and Hammer

Judges 4:21
“But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand. Then she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple until it went down into the ground while he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died.”

There is violence in a walk with Jesus. There is righteous anger and justified wrath.

We see all through Judges that the redeemed of the Lord, the people of Israel, are a people that are in desperate need of leaders. We also see the violent streak in the walk with Christ. In Judges 3, Ehud, a left handed man was raised for the people of Israel to follow. Ehud finds himself in the chambers of King Eglon of Moab to pay tribute. He, in an act that could be reenacted in the movies today, reaches down to his right thigh with his left hand and thrusts the dagger into the belly of the King! Picture it, an overweight king gets stabbed in the belly by a ninja like, left handed man. Scripture records that the belly went over the dagger, over Ehud’s hand and the Kings “dung” came out! That is righteous violence…and the people of Israel followed Ehud that day after trumpet sound and killed 10,000 Moabites, A revolution started by a left handed man called by the Lord.

In Judges 4, after the people of Israel again do evil in the sight of the Lord after Ehud dies, they were given by the Lord to Jabin, King of Canaan. Jabin had an army that was intimidating to say the least. The commander of the army was named Sisera. After prayer to the Lord, the Lord gives word to Deborah, the prophetess in charge of judging Israel at the time. She tells Barak “Has not the Lord, the God of Israel commanded you, “Go gather your men at Mount Tabor taking 10,000 from the people of Naphtali and the people of Zebulun” “And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin’s army, to meet you by the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops, and I will give him into your hand’?” So, Barak takes his troops. The Lord draws out Sisera and his troops to give them to the hands of Barak. Sisera cowards and begins to run. As he is running away he comes across a tent, the tent of Jael. Jael was a quiet woman, wife of Heber. She invited Sisera into her tent and offered him protection. Sisera being tired and thirsty asked for water, she instead gave him milk and a place to lie his head. What a sweet woman. As Sisera was fast asleep, Jael, again in an act that should be in film takes a tent peg and hammer and drives it through Sisera’s temple! And there he laid. The people of Israel, again were victorious.

The Christian walk is not a walk of color pink, but its dashed in reds, purple and blues. It calls for righteous anger and violence. Against whom? Against sin! We are to be angry at our sin we are to be violent towards our sin, we are to stand against unrighteousness, we are to hate everything in us that causes us to fall into sin. We are called to live peaceably with others and we are called to be violent against sin…our sin.

Are you angry at your sin?

This is pretty shwweeett

I got a story like that

I Got A Story Like That

Is looking for artists and writers to meet.

I have had a tremendous amount of fun and personal satisfaction with artists that I have never met sending me selected pieces of their work. Then I create a story/poem about that art.

Visit our site and see the results of our collaborations.

You don’t have to be an artist/writer to see whats happening here.

You might just have a little fun or maybe too much fun.
